Form And Pattern
Date
April 2023
To begin the process, we closely examined the intricacies of hands in various gestures, studying their shapes and movements. Whether observing our own hands or those of others, we analyzed the proportions and structure of the hand's anatomy, gaining a deeper understanding of its complexities.
After this initial observation, we began sketching hands in a range of gestures. By repeatedly sketching and refining our work, we improved our observation skills and honed our ability to capture the nuances of the hand's form. Paying careful attention to details such as the joints, muscles, and contours, we sought to create accurate representations of the hand.
Once we had a thorough collection of sketches and a better grasp of the hand's form, we progressed to building physical models. Using materials like paper, clay, or wire, we created three-dimensional representations of our observations. This approach allowed us to study the hand's structure from multiple perspectives, enabling us to gain a more comprehensive understanding of its form and movements.
